The following additional tests may be required to monitor the condition:
- Bone marrow examination – to evaluate the overall bone marrow function.
- Heart ultrasound scan (echocardiogram) – to investigate for possible raised blood pressure in the lungs.
- Abdominal ultrasound scan – to look for blood clots affecting the liver which can sometimes occur without symptoms.
